Let's BeginWelcome
I'm so glad
that you're here
The Alchemy of Grief
is an action-based, powerful, directed approach to healing from life's deepest heartbreaks
If you're here, there's a high probability your heart is broken.
- It may have been caused by a death, either recent or long ago.
- It may have been caused by a divorce or the breakup of a romantic relationship.
- It may have been a diagnosis, major illness, or injury.
- It may have been a change you didn't ask for or maybe even one you did ask for.
- It may have been caused by any of the more than 40 other losses that a person can encounter during a lifetime.
Regardless of the cause of your broken heart, grief has entered and taken root there.
What is grief?
Grief is the normal and natural reaction to loss.
The conflicting feelings caused by the end of or change in a familiar pattern of behavior.
Unmet and unrealized hopes, dreams, and expectations.
Anything we look back on and wish it were different, better, or more.
The Alchemy of Grief Program is a place for sharing, containment, holding, processing, feeling, expressing, and ultimately healing, collectively.
A place for your healing
It can be difficult to find healing in isolation while swimming in old narratives around how we're supposed to move through grief. Ultimately, our grief has to be witnessed to be healed. Our small group container will provide a space for you to lay down your grief and be witnessed.
Understanding and care for your feelings
Gabor Maté says "It's not about feeling better. It's about getting better at feeling."
A path for finding meaning
We'll explore the 5 stages of grief but there's so much more to understanding our internal landscape around grief. We'll forge our paths to healing and finding meaning in our pain and loss.
Have We Met?
Hi, I'm Mika
In 2005, I was 27, and my mom and best friend died from cancer. I had a 3 year old daughter at the time and I was lost and torn apart with feelings I had never felt before and had no idea what to do with. I spent 10 years avoiding my grief until I learned how to feel, hold, and process my pain. Don't stay stuck in pain or worse, suppress it. There's a better way. Let's find our way through to healing.
Mika Barber is a Certified Advanced Grief Recovery Specialist, Certified Life Coach, Certified Inherited Family Trauma Practitioner, Certified Conscious Parenting Coach & Educator, Certified Yoga Teacher & has been a student and teacher of grief since 2005.
With new insight comes new possibility for healing and completion
Our 8 week course together will provide a safe environment with others who have also experienced a loss. Together will uncover the beliefs and strategies we all use to handle our grief. We'll discover the many losses you've experienced throughout your life and how those losses have impacted you. Most importantly, how those losses are impacting your life now. With new tools and awareness you'll be able to take action to move toward emotional completion.
Get StartedWhy do I need help grieving?
#1
Is something keeping you from grieving?
Our culture is full of myths around grief that keep us stuck and keep us from feeling what we need to feel move through our grief, find our healing, and reach emotional completion.
#2
Is there room for your grief?
The world keeps moving while we're stuck in our pain. Where can our grief go? Don't let your grief stay stuck inside. This container will provide a place for you to lay down your grief in a safe and supportive container.
#3
What's unsaid and undone?
Sometimes our grief stays unresolved when things are unsaid and undone. We'll explore where our relationships are incomplete and how we can find emotional completion.
Find your way back to living fully...
Our whole lives are filled with grief. Any time there's a change in a familiar pattern of behavior there is usually grief. We're not taught how to handle grief. We're good at accumulating things in life but when it comes to letting go we usually find ourselves in doubt, pain, worry, and anguish with few tools and limited resources. Often we end up suppressing these emotions creating emotional blocks, dis-ease, and other stored trauma. Edith Egar says "All therapy is grief work." We'll explore how grief has been with us all along and how making friends with and processing our grief will help us reach the emotional completion we've been searching for.
First the grieving, then the rising.
Without recovery from grief our life force energy is diminished. Our capacity for joy and happiness is diminished. When we find our healing and recovery we find our rising and our way back to living fully once again.
You don't have to navigate the journey of grief alone. Our healing happens more easily in community when our grief can be fully expressed and fully witnessed by others.
"Emotional pain from loss is a Universal experience."
